Seven Daughters and Seven Sons (Mulan)

1. Why do many religions/belief systems have clearly defined gender roles?

The reasonis because it is said that womens role is to stay at home and take care of the kids but the mens role is to go to war.

2. When, if ever, is it appropriate that someone defy gender roles?

I dont think that it is ever appropriate even though i dont bielive in it according to what i know i think that it is never appropriate to switch your gender roles.

Novel/Movie Connection:
1. What are the cultural attitudes toward marriage in the novel, Seven Daughters and Seven Sons, and the movie, Mulan?

I think that marriages are arranged by the parents but in mulan since she brought shame to her family and then no family would want thier son to marry her.

2. How is education for girls treated in the novel as well as the movie?

Well in the book, education for woman is treated very poorly because woman had no right to education and that was the same thing with the movie.
